The pharaoh ant (Monomorium pharaonis) is an almost transparent ant notorious for being a major indoor nuisance pest and is introduced to virtually every area of the world. These species colony contains many queens, that allows the colony to fragment into bud colonies quickly.
Pharaoh ants are a tropical species, but they also thrive in buildings almost anywhere, even in temprate regions provided central heating is present.
Features:
- Small (2 mm) yellow or light brown with black eyes
- Male upto 3mm long, dark red in colour and have wings
- Each colony can have few lakhs of individuals.
